How can digital education empower marginalised women personally and professionally?
EDYTA: A service to promote digital education for women facing social exclusion by partnering with and enabling organisations that work with them.
Spain, 2018 – 2021 | Client: Fundación Orange
My role: Project Lead as part of the Innova Partners consulting team. I interviewed stakeholders, wrote reports, facilitated co-creation sessions, and defined the curriculum and content of the course, creating digital content like toolkits, videos, and questionnaires; I selected and trained learning guides and I coached them; I defined the key elements to build a community around the project.
THE BRIEF
Fundación Orange wanted to promote digital education for women in order to close the digital gap. The plan was to provide different NGOs working with women with equipment, content, methodologies, and training for its professionals. Our mission was to create a course curriculum and methodology for marginalised women with low digital skills, but that was able to acknowledge and embrace their diversity – for instance, through a flexible methodology or project-based learning.
We also had to find the best way to train professionals to carry out the courses while preserving the course philosophy – for instance, through active training, coaching, or peer-to-peer support.
42% of the Spanish population dies not know how to create a document or use a text processor (UGT, 2019).
60% of the disconnected are women (ONTSI, 2019).
31,5% of the homes with an income below 900€ does not have access to the internet (INE, 2019).

THE PROCESS
We followed an iterative methodology, testing and improving throughout the project implementation. This was paired with ethnographic research activities, ranging from co-creative workshops, in-depth interviews and surveys.

THE DELIVERABLES
Throughout the four years, we developed many materials and reports. Although I led on the development and delivery of these materials, my role was to facilitate collaboration to ensure they were human-centric and relevant to the specific context.
